There’s a kind of wedding that stays with you long after the last song. Not because of a checklist, but because you could feel so much of the couple in every corner of the day. Johanna and Christian’s was one of those.
We hosted their romantic summer vineyard wedding on August 8, 2026, and yes, it was beautiful in all the ways you’d hope for. Gold and candlelight. Roses on the gazebo. A cake we’re honestly still thinking about. But what we keep coming back to isn’t any single detail. It’s the way the whole day kept circling back to the people who mattered most: the family who raised them, the friends who stood beside them, and one quiet moment that happened before anyone else had even arrived.
The Setting: Zorvino in High Summer
If you’ve ever seen Zorvino wake up in the spring, you know how much life this place holds. August is the season that follows through on all of it. By early August the property has settled into its fullest, greenest self. The grape arbors hang thick overhead, the garden beds crowd with white and lavender blooms, and our red barn glows warm against a soft summer sky.
Johanna and Christian didn’t waste an inch of it. They moved through the day the way we always hope couples will, drifting from the suite to the gardens to the reception hall, and they made a choice we love for summer: an outdoor gazebo ceremony, an outdoor cocktail hour on the patio, and then indoors for dinner and dancing once the light began to soften. That outdoor cocktail hour is something we can only offer May through October, and it’s worth planning around. You get to spend the golden part of the evening out among the vines, then end the night warm and glowing under the beams.
Before the Aisle: A First Look with Dad
Here’s the moment we can’t quite stop thinking about.
Before the guests, before the vows, before any of the rest of it, Johanna and her dad shared a first look. Just the two of them. A father seeing his daughter as a bride for the very first time. You can’t put that on a timeline, and if we’re being honest, no photo fully holds it either. It’s the kind of thing you plan in an afternoon and then carry with you for the rest of your life.
We’ll say what we always say, because days like this keep proving it true. No request is ever too personal or too tender for us to make room for. Some of the most unforgettable moments we get to witness never show up on the schedule at all. They’re the quiet ones, tucked into a corner of the grounds, and more often than not, they turn out to be the heart of the whole day.
The Ceremony: Vows Beneath the Gazebo
When it was time, Johanna and Christian met under our outdoor gazebo, its posts dressed in full arrangements of ivory and blush roses. Their guests gathered close on the lawn, and with officiant Shelly Meade guiding them, they said the words that made it all official.
If you want to know what kind of couple they are, look at who stood up with them. This was one of the largest wedding parties we’ve ever hosted. Nine bridesmaids and nine groomsmen, two best men in Charlie and Alex, two maids of honor in Amanda and Isabella, and a junior bridesmaid in the mix. And carrying the rings? Christian’s six-year-old little brother, John, who took the job about as seriously as a six-year-old possibly can. Grandparents watched from the front row. Three generations of both families, all in one place, all there to see it happen.
A wedding party that big isn’t a logistics puzzle. It’s a love letter. And this one said everything.
A Quiet Moment, Just for Them
Somewhere between “I do” and the first round of hugs, they slipped away for a few minutes that belonged to no one but them. Foreheads together, the rest of the world on pause. Every couple deserves that little pocket of quiet, and we’re always glad when they take it.
Cocktail Hour: Frosé, Sangria & His-and-Hers Favorites
Then the patio doors opened, and cocktail hour arrived in full summer glory.
The star of the show was the frozen drink bar, and it did exactly what a frozen drink bar should do on a warm August evening. It made everyone smile on the way back for round two. There was frosé, a Black Widowz, a hops lemon-and-lime, and a rotating non-alcoholic option so nobody stood on the sidelines. Red and white sangria kept the wine barrel busy, and then came the two drinks that made the whole thing theirs: a creamy espresso martini and a classic old fashioned, chosen as his-and-hers favorites. It’s such a small thing, picking a couple of signature drinks. But it tells your guests exactly who you are before dinner even starts.
There was food, too, and plenty of it. A generous spread of cheese and fruit, plus passed bites making the rounds all evening. Cold drinks, warm air, the vineyard stretching out behind you. There’s a reason our summer couples fight for this hour on the patio.
Inside the Reception: Gold, Candlelight & Timber Beams
When the doors opened for dinner, the room did the thing we never get tired of watching. That little collective pause when guests step inside and look up. Vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, skylights overhead, café lights strung the length of the space. It’s grand and cozy all at once, and Johanna and Christian dressed it in gold, ivory, and champagne like they’d been picturing it for years.
The tables did the quiet, gorgeous work. Gold beaded chargers at every seat, soft champagne runners, blush and ivory florals nestled into gilded vessels, and gold mirror table numbers throwing back the candlelight. A mirror seating chart and their complimentary custom monogram carried that reflective, golden thread all the way through the room, and sheer drapery framed the dance floor like a curtain waiting to open.
Two things, though, are what we’ll remember most. There was a memory table for the loved ones who couldn’t be there, a way of keeping their place at the celebration, and a gesture that always says so much about a couple. And at every seat sat a single wine cork favor, which, at a winery, might be the most fitting little keepsake there is. Guests left their own marks all night too, through an audio phone guest book, a polaroid station, and “capture the love” cards scattered across the tables.
The Feast: A Classico Celebration
The couple went with our Classico Wedding Package, and dinner brought exactly the kind of warmth the room was asking for. A garden salad with zinfandel vinaigrette started things off, and then guests took their pick: a New York sirloin with herb butter, chicken piccata bright with lemon and capers, or a butternut squash ravioli finished with brown butter and a cranberry-walnut gremolata. The littlest guests had chicken fingers and fries, because a good wedding looks after everyone at the table.
The Cake & the Coffee Buffet
And then there was the cake. Chickadee Hill Cakes gave them a three-tier stunner, textured buttercream with blush and ivory roses spilling down the tiers and a gold “Mr & Mrs Macias” script on top. It sat on a softly glowing stand ringed with wine corks, which might just be the most on-brand cake display a vineyard could ask for, and it was almost certainly the most photographed table of the night. It came out alongside a full coffee and tea buffet, the perfect way to land the evening.
The Dance Floor
With dinner behind them, DJ Will B took over and the night shifted gears. Parent dances, a group photo, and then a dance floor that simply refused to empty, glowing under the beams behind its sheer drapery.
When the night finally wound down, charter buses from Student Transportation of America carried everyone back to their hotels. Because the best weddings end with every last guest getting home safe, and nobody having to give it a second thought.
